FAQ, BLOK HiFi Stands

Are your glass shelves strong enough for my equipment?

All the glass components we use in our furniture are toughened safety glass conforming to British Standard BS6206A. The maximum recommended weight tolerance of our 10mm safety glass shelves is 30Kg per shelf.

Can I rearrange the shelf order in a STAX?

Yes, it is possible to rearrange the levels in a STAX Hi-Fi Stand to any possible configuration, with the exception of the 100mm base block feet.

Can I add further levels to my STAX at a later date?

Yes, we can supply extra standard size levels at a later date. Please note that because we use real wood natural veneers, there could be some variation in the wood finish between the old blocks and the new level.

What are your wood finishes?

We only use real-wood natural veneers for our wood finishes. Our Oak finish is an American Light Oak, and our Walnut is American Black Walnut. Both finishes are sprayed with a 20% sheen lacquer. This produces a matt finish.

Can I order custom wood finishes, colours or sizes?

Yes and no. We no longer offer a full bespoke customisation service. However, you can order different shelf height configurations using our standard block sizes in the BLOK Custom Shop. However, if you want a truly bespoke solution, including custom widths, depths, wood finishes, gloss finishes, paint finishes, etc, then you will need to contact our sister company Audinni. They are specialists in making a range of bespoke AV furniture from their dedicated workshop in Saffron Walden. As a guide, a bespoke STAX stand will cost approximately double the cost of a standard stand.

Is your furniture self-assembly or delivered assembled?

Our Hi-Fi Stands have been designed and manufactured for simple self-assembly and the assembly process is both extremely intuitive and almost self-explanatory. Although we have designed the assembly process to be straightforward, we have also compiled a detailed assembly booklet with clear step-by-step instructions. You can view our current assembly instructions here. If you still need some assistance then please do get in touch.

Do your Hi-Fi stands come with acoustic spikes?

We do not supply acoustic spikes with our Hi-fi stands, however they can be fitted. The racks are supplied with M5 [5mm] screw-in floor height adjusters as standard. These can be replaced with acoustic spikes with a 5mm fitting. Please note, the STAX Hi-Fi Stand is heavy, and some acoustic spikes may well cause floor damage. We recommend using the supplied floor height adjusters. Nb: In sound testing, the floor height adjusters were judged to perform better [What Hi-Fi June 2010].
